Reading the thumbnails

Thumbnails are captured periodically rather than continuously, so they lag the live stream by up to a minute. A thumbnail is a reasonable indicator of a room's setup and lighting but not of what is happening at this exact second.

The viewer count next to each thumbnail is live, and is usually a better signal of whether a room is active than the image itself.

Busy rooms versus quiet ones

Rooms at the top of the page have hundreds or thousands of viewers, which means fast-moving chat where individual messages scroll past quickly.

Rooms further down are considerably quieter, and anyone who wants a response to what they type will generally have a better time there. The trade-off is a less polished production.
